This September School Holidays, join us for a suite of unique artmaking experiences that respond to Bundanon’s natural environment, via two consecutive day visits. These GROUNDWORKS workshops are only offered one school holidays each year.
GROUNDWORKS offers extensive immersion in the landscape, with little to no classroom time (weather permitting). This program focuses on being in specific locations at Bundanon, responding to diversity in ecologies, plant communities and landforms.
The program spans two-days with attendance on both days required. Registration includes bus transfer from Nowra, workshops, catering and all artmaking supplies.
Daily schedule and inclusions:
9am Each day, the event begins at Nowra Bus Terminal, Stuart Place, Nowra. Participants will travel to Bundanon on a shuttle bus with a member of Bundanon staff
9.30am–4.30pm See program details below. Lunch, morning and afternoon tea are included
4.30pm Participants leave Bundanon by Bus at 4.30pm and return to Nowra Bus Terminal with a member of Bundanon staff
5pm Shuttle bus arrives at Nowra Bus Terminal. Event ends
Day One: In the morning, enjoy a bushwalk and guided exploration of en plein air watercolour painting. In the afternoon, consider earth as both inspiration and materials for experimental landscape painting
Day Two: In the morning, use a range of graphite to create a composite drawing of our natural surrounds. Then in the afternoon, a drawing activity focuses on close noticing of light, form and texture of trees
Please note, over the two days, the group will have guided access to the exhibition Man on Fire: Visions of Nebuchadnezzar, which has a content warning for nudity and simulated fire effects.
